About DC Power Equipment

DC Power Equipment LLC began operation in February 1999. One of our goals was to provide the military with an impact wrench of the highest quality: a tool that has the power and reliability of a pneumatic wrench combined with the portability, cost-effectiveness, and safety of a battery-powered tool. Through these ideas the DC I1S/ NSN 5130-01-536-6492 was developed.

DC Power Equipment is closely associated with Phoenix-Lamar Corporation in Austin, Texas, and with over thirty years in the manufacturing industry we build a much needed product of the highest standard.

The most common complaint with a pneumatic was having to supply a sufficient amount of compressed air in all the places their job took them. Gasoline engine powered air compressors are heavy and can be very maintenance intensive. Other complaints were having to deal with the constant noise of the compressor’s engine and the dangers related to blown hoses and couplers that disconnect or blow open without notice.

Using a 110 v/ac impact wrench in the field requires a gasoline engine powered generator. Although lighter in weight than most air compressors, generators are still noisy and maintenance intensive. Most users expressed concern in regards to harmful electrical shock.

Maximum Output Torque

Maximum output torque (removing) = 450 foot pounds (tightening) = 425 foot pounds

Durable Motor

Custom 12 volt DC motor has double ball bearings

Weather Resistant

Power pack housing is weather resistant polypropylene

Using a DC Impact has the following advantages:

Portability: a DC Impact unit weighs less than 30 lbs. With an easy to grab handle on the power pack and the impact wrench, it can easily be carried just about anywhere the job demands.

Size: a DC Impact unit can easily be stored behind the seat of most pickup trucks. This keeps the unit out of the weather and out of sight.

Safety: a DC Impact can be safely used in all types of weather. If used properly there is no danger of electrical shock. Each DC Impact has a onboard work light that will illuminate the wheel area for safer and faster nighttime tire changes.

Maintenance: A DC Impact requires very little maintenance.

Noise: While being used, a DC Impact makes far less noise than a pneumatic.

Pollution: By eliminating the use of gasoline engines, DC Impacts will reduce air pollution.

Work Light: The DC Impact’s onboard work light will make nighttime tire changes faster and safer.

The DC Impact wrench can perform as well as some of the most powerful pneumatics on the market. The design is what our customers told us they wanted: a tool that can do the job of a pneumatic impact wrench without the need for an air compressor. Although some hand-held re-chargeables exhibit a fair amount of output torque, they can not sustain it like the DC Impact wrench.

If you have to ask the short answer is please don’t…. the DCI1S (impact wrench) is a very powerful tool and basic to operate, but it is assumed that the operator will have a working knowledge of power tools. If not… the individual should not attempt to operate this or any power tool. It is recommended that the user should be adequately trained on the use of power tools and or impact wrenches.

Do not use regular sockets as they may chip or break, causing injuries. Use only the impact sockets designed for use with this tool.

Those that have used the DC Impact a few times have said that they can regulate the output torque by sight and feel. For torque sensitive applications such as expensive alloy wheels, the ultimate solution is using a “torque socket”.

No. The power pack battery charger is programmed to recharge the onboard battery quickly and efficiently. This ensures a long and trouble-free battery life. Using a different battery charger can shorten the battery life and weaken the performance of the tool. It is recommended that you charge the battery 2-4 hours before use. There is a green indicator light that will illuminate when the unit is fully charged.

Yes. The tool and power pack are moisture resistant. Unlike 110 vac powered impact wrenches, the DC Impact does not expose the user to hazardous electrical shock in wet conditions. However, the tool should never be submerged in water.

The tool is equipped with a power disconnect. This is, and should always be, disconnected during shipping to safeguard against accidental discharge. Simply connect the connectors and you are ready to go.

The light operates independently from the tool. The on-off switch is located on the power pack just below the power cord. Don’t forget to turn it off it will cause a drain on the battery.
